Shawn Roper, Head Golf Professional
Shawn Roper was born in Greensboro, NC and moved to the Myrtle Beach area in 1984. He is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College, where he received degrees in Marketing and Turf Grass Horticulture. Shawn is a PGA Member and has been with the DeBordieu Club since 2000. He is fully committed to creating enjoyable golf experiences at DeBordieu for all members and their guests. Shawn, his wife Leigh, son Brandon and daughter Ragan live in Pawleys Island.
Matt Williams, 1st Assistant Golf Professional
Matt Williams was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Psychology. Matt joined the DeBordieu Professional golf staff in May of 2005. Matt is a PGA member. Matt, his wife Kim, and daughters Campbell and Sara Grace live in Pawleys Island.
Amie Philo-Whittaker, Merchandiser and Assistant Golf Professional
Amie Philo-Whittaker was born in Jacksonville and raised in Tampa, Florida. Amie played golf for and graduated from Coastal Carolina University. Amie comes to us by way of Caledonia, where she worked for the past 6 years. Amie and her husband Chris live in Murrells Inlet.
Bob Hastings, Shop Assistant
Bob Hastings is a native of Charleston, SC. He graduated from St. Andrews High School. Bob spent four and a half years in the U.S. Air Force, and the majority of that time in Maryland. He retired from National Security Agency, after 35 years of service, in 1994. During his career, Bob and his wife, Joanne, spent four years in England. After moving to Heritage Plantation, in Pawleys Island, in 1994, he began working for DeBordieu. His love of golf began in the 1960’s and continues to this day. Bob also enjoys woodworking. It has been an exciting year for the Hastings spoiling their new baby grandson.
Dick Culver, Shop Assistant
After retiring in 1991 with 23 years of service as a police officer in Akron, Ohio, Dick Culver worked in security management positions for five years. In 1996 he worked at Firestone Country Club as a starter on the North Course. In 1996, Dick and his wife Donna of 40 years, moved to the Tradition Club in Pawleys Island. He began working at DeBordieu in June of 1999. Dick and Donna have two sons and four grandchildren.
Bob Meinert, Shop Assistant
Bob Meinert is a New Jersey native who began working at DeBordieu in 2003. Bob and his wife, Lacy moved from Sacramento, CA to Willbrook Plantation upon retirement as Colonel from the United States Air Force in 1994. After flying and working in operational jobs for most of his career, he enjoys the relative calm of the golf shop and working to provide the best possible support to the DeBordieu membership. Bob and Lacy enjoy playing golf and traveling (primarily to visit grandchildren in San Francisco, CA and Las Vegas, NV).
